Alpenore Gobbi was born in 1864 in Montecchio and began his artistic studies with the painter Gaetano Chierici. Subsequently, he continued his journey in Florence where he specialized in nude painting. However, in order to support himself financially, he dedicated himself to genre painting. In 1896 he left Italy for South America and quickly established himself as a painter and decorator, particularly as a portraitist of famous and important Latin American personalities. In 1912, he moved to the United States where he created interior decoration works on both canvas and panels. He also decorated the villa of the Italian industrialist Scola in Paterson, before returning to Italy in 1922 and settling in Florence. After the conclusion of forty years of fruitful artistic activity in 1922 he held a solo show at Palazzo Antinori in Florence and then moved to Nervi where he died in 1960.
