Claus Goedicke (1966 - ) is a German photographer, considered a representative of the Düsseldorf School of Photography. Lives and works in Berlin. He has studied at the Düsseldorf Art Academy since 1989. In 1995 he was a master's student with Bernd Becher, making him one of the last students of the Düsseldorf "Becher class", which would later be entrusted to Thomas Ruff. Goedicke then studied postgraduate from 1999 to 2001 at the Academy of Media Arts in Cologne. After graduating in 2001, he received the State Prize for Young Artists of North Rhine-Westphalia. Goedicke is particularly known for his photographic still lifes, to which he applies the typological working method of the Becher class. His subject reveals a concern with consumer culture: plastic bottles, household utensils and groceries, all photographed against flat, colorful backgrounds to draw attention to their shape. In its frontal immediacy, glossy sheen and precise lighting, Goedicke's work recalls the visual language of advertising. He has recently developed a unique form of displaying his photographs in which he digitally assembles them with patterns and graphics into a "wallpaper" form.
