Natalia Goncharova Biography
Natalia Goncharova, also known as Natal'ja Sergeevna Goncharova, was a Russian painter born on 4 June 1881 in Negaevo, Russia. In 1898 he attended the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture, where he met the painter Mikhail Larionov, who would become his partner. His most famous work, "The Cyclist", is considered one of the most representative works of the Russian Rayonism movement, in which the rapid advancement of man is represented through the decomposition of the chromatic planes and the repetition of marked black lines which give the conveys the impression of simultaneous movement. From 1909 to 1911, she dedicated herself to sacred painting, showing her great interest in Russian icons of the religious tradition. In 1914, Natalia moved permanently to Paris with her partner Mikhail Larionov. He collaborated with the impresario Djagilev for the creation of the costumes and sets for the Ballets Russes. He often exhibited with Larionov in Europe, the United States and Japan.
In 1939, Natalia became a French citizen. He died in Paris on 17 October 1962.
