Ferdinando Gregori was a famous Italian engraver, born in Florence in 1743 and died in the same city in 1804. From his youth, Gregori was introduced to the profession of engraver by his father, who trained him in his workshop. Together with his father, Gregori collaborated on various works both in Florence and Rome. In 1760, Ferdinand won a scholarship that allowed him to travel to Paris to study. There, he was hired for three years by the famous Johann Georg Wille, for whom he made numerous engravings for various volumes. From this moment, Ferdinando Gregori began a prolific and prominent activity in the field of Florentine engraving, creating a notable quantity of works that were used in numerous volumes printed during his career. Ferdinando Gregori died in Florence in 1804.
