Vittorio Gregotti Biography

Vittorio Gregotti (1927 - 2020) was born on 10 August 1927 in Novara. He was born into a wealthy textile family. He studied architecture at the Politecnico di Milano (Politecnico di Milano). Furthermore, after graduating in 1952, he worked for the Italian architecture magazine; Nice house. His efforts and words brought him promotion and he contributed as editor-in-chief from 1955 to 1963. He also educated multiple batches in different universities. He expressed his profound thoughts through books on architectural theory. Gregotti was invited to be part of the Venice Biennale in 1976 and 1978. He directed the visual arts section. Gregotti founded his own studio in 1974. Gregotti Associati International, and subsequently designed the Luigi Ferraris Stadium (1992) in Genoa, the Belém Cultural Center (1992) in Lisbon, the Bicocca University in Milan (1998), the Teatro degli Arcimboldi ( 2001) and many other noteworthy projects. His studio also designed the master plan for the Pujiang New City in Shanghai, with an Italian architecture concept. He was an active member of the Italian Communist Party. His passion for writing continued to grow and he wrote countless articles and approximately 30 books. He was the key figure in shaping the era of postmodernism in the 1970s.
