Hedwig Laura Amalie Antonie Greve was born on March 29, 1850 in Spelbrink, near Osnabrück. She was a German painter specializing in genres and portraits. After attending the Düsseldorf Academy of Art, he transferred to the Munich Academy of Fine Arts. Here, she trained as a portrait and genre painter. In 1875, Greve made his debut as an artist with a portrait of his master, Gustav Süs.
During her career, Hedwig Laura Amalie Antonie Greve created many portraits, including those of Emperor Wilhelm I and Justice Minister Heinrich von Friedberg.
Greve moved to Hanover in 1890, where she worked as a storybook author under the name Hedwig von Lepel-Glitz, her husband's surname. Greve died on 10 August 1925 in Weilheim in Upper Bavaria.
