Beppe Grimani Biography
Beppe Grimani, after attending the Fantoni art school, was a pupil of Luigi Brignoli and then of Contardo Barbieri at the Carrara Academy in Bergamo. He learned fresco techniques by collaborating with Fermo Taragni and Umberto Marigliani. In the 1940s and early 1950s he participated in important national exhibitions of sacred art and in numerous artistic events at provincial and regional levels. When in the 1950s he decided to dedicate himself exclusively to easel painting, he ordered a series of exhibitions in various Italian cities which achieved flattering reviews from critics and notable public success. Portraits, landscapes and still lifes, especially flowers, were his favorite subjects, in the wake of a never-denied figurative tradition. In portraits he was able to capture the most intimate moments of a person and express sincerity and immediacy in the features, in landscapes he was able to communicate the influence that nature, in particular Lake Iseo, had on him, while the theme of flowers is treated with freshness, sensitivity and compositional elegance. He taught for 17 years (1967-1984) at the painting school of the Tadini Academy in Lovere. His works can be found in Italian collections, in the United States, in England, in Switzerland, in France, in Belgium, in Germany, in Austria, in Hungary.
