Bbpr Gruppo Biography

The BBPR Group was founded in Milan in 1932 by Gian Luigi Banfi, Lodovico Barbiano di Belgiojoso, Enrico Peressutti and Ernesto Nathan Rogers. This artistic and cultural partnership, based on group work, was one of the first and most interesting cases of professional study that went beyond the artisanal dimension to orient itself towards the conception of the architect's activity based on collegial contribution as a methodological principle. Thanks to the cultural commitment of the individual partners, the studio has been able to tackle increasingly vast and heterogeneous themes, from interior design to landscape design. In particular, participation in the CIAM and the Movimento di Studi per l'Architettura (MSA), university teaching between Milan and Venice, activity with the Triennials starting from 1933 and the direction of "Domus" and "Casabella -Continuity" by Rogers, contributed to making the studio a true laboratory of modernity and a bridge with the international debate for the diffusion of Italian design culture, especially between the 1940s and 1960s.
