Massimo Gurnari was born in Milan in 1981. After attending and then dropping out of art schools, he continued his education in Street Art collectives and tattoo studios, participating in various movements and thus developing his main interests: “Tattoo classic - says Gurnari - and the iconography from around 1950 to 70 on which I draw, make my works "popular", with a simple and immediate language. Gurnari mixes a large quantity of styles and graphic references: from Pop Art to Lowbrow , from Pop Surrealism to Tatoo, but there is no shortage of references to classical and baroque art. Painting, tattooing, comics, graphics, cinema and music are the world from which Gurnari extrapolates signs of recognition and stereotypes to fuel his imagination, which despite the great variety of influences and re-elaborations acquires a very personal dimension of its own. "My technique is a hybrid between street materials and refined easel colours: I go from spray and stencils to Varese paper collage , oil, enamel, acrylic and pastel".
