Elisabetta Gut was born in Rome in 1934, but spent her childhood in Zurich. He attended the Art Institute in Rome, where he had an initial post-cubist and then informal pictorial experience, before approaching the verbovisual neo-avant-gardes that were forming in literary circles. Initially, she experimented with the relationship between image and writing, developing collages and assemblages in which she managed to insert scriptural fragments and plant elements. Elisabetta Gut was the first to use the thread as a sign of cancellation and musical writing, using the pentagram and the string as inaudible vibrations.
Elisabetta Gut's surliness was fundamental to guaranteeing her intensity, especially in operations that take up an iconography largely characterized as poetic. His ability to remove the image from any predisposed poeticism, thanks to the mastery of imagination, has allowed him to reacquire a native freshness within the very structures of culture.
