Alfredo Haberli Biography
Alfredo Häberli, a world-renowned designer, was born in 1964 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. In 1977 he moved to Switzerland where he graduated with honors in 1991 in Industrial Design at the Höhere Schule für Gestaltung in Zurich. He currently lives in Zurich, where he has established his headquarters, and collaborates with some of the leading companies in the international design sector such as Alias, BD Barcelona, BMW, Camper, FSB, Georg Jensen, Iittala, Kvadrat, Luceplan, Moroso, Schiffini and Vitra. His projects stand out for their ability to combine tradition and innovation, energy and joy, and express a strong emotionality and creativity influenced by his childhood in Argentina and his curiosity about everyday life. Häberli's work has been exhibited in numerous exhibitions across Europe and has received numerous awards, including the Swiss Grand Prix for Design in 2014. In 2006, he was the guest of honor at the 20th Design Biennial in Kortrijk, Belgium, where a personal monograph was published: «Alfredo Häberli - Sketching My Own Landscape». In 2008, he curated the retrospective exhibition «SurroundThings» at the Museum für Gestaltung Zürich, while in 2009 he was awarded «Designer of the Year 2009» by the magazine A&W (Architektur & Wohnen) and curated a monographic exhibition on the occasion of the international fair of furniture - imm cologne. In 2012, his largest project, the 25hours Hotel Zurich West was inaugurated, where he oversaw the entire interior decoration and designed more than 60 products for the hotel. In 2019 he was a juror at the Design Preis Schweiz and in 2020 at the Frame Awards in Amsterdam. Häberli has been curating «Atelier Pfister – Neues Schweizer Design» for Pfister AG since 2009.
