Gina Hagiu Biography
Gina Hagiu (1924 - ) Painter, designer, creator of wall decorations and book illustrations, Gina Hagiu was born on November 11, 1927 in Bujor - Galați, Romania. She graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts, and the Bucharest Conservatory of Music and Dramatic Art in 1947. After finishing the Conservatory, she was employed at the National Youth Theater and then at the Bucharest Youth Theater, where she worked as a actress until 1958-1959. He first exhibited at the "Autumn Salon" in Bucharest in 1975, during which time he participated in numerous art exhibitions in the country and abroad. In 1959 he exhibited at the World Youth Festival in Vienna, Moscow and Bucharest (The Work - Peace Race), winning 2nd prize. Between 1960 and 1962 she lived and worked in China, accompanying Eugen Popa, her husband. In Paris he worked in the studio of the painter of Romanian origin, Magdalena Rădulescu, and inaugurated his personal exhibition of painting and drawing at the RG Gallery in St. Germany in 1966-1967. In 1973 he took a 3-month study trip to Italy. From 1974 a very interesting and rich period in his artistic creation and development followed, with an exhibition in The Hague. In 1980 he took a 3-month trip to the USA, on the recommendation of the Stedelijk Museum, where he worked in a laboratory for foreigners in New York. His works can be found in museums and private collections in Romania, France, Italy, the United States, Belgium, Germany.
