Rajmund Teofil Halas Biography
Rajmund Teofil Hałas, born May 31, 1925 in Krobia, was a visual artist, architect, designer and educator. Rajmund's father established a factory in 1922 in Krobia, which exported furniture to Vienna and Berlin. In 1939, at the age of 14, Rajmund Teofil began working in the family business, following the outbreak of the Second World War. In 1951, Rajmund began studying at the Faculty of Interior Design in Poznań. During the 1950s, he began working at the Furniture Industry Union in Poznań, where, from 1956 to 1969, he headed the Furniture Design Department. From 1957 to 1967, he served as artistic director of the "Rzeźba and Artistic Carpentry" Cooperative in Poznań. In the period between 1964 and 1965, Rajmund was an assistant at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw and from 1964 he was the recipient of a United Nations scholarship at the Institute of Industrial Arts in Helsinki, as well as in 1965 in the UK. Since 1996 Rajmund Hałas collaborated with the Academy of Fine Arts and since 2010 with UAP. Rajmund Teofil Hałas died on 4 November 2008 in Poznań.
