Pieter Hardimé was born in Antwerp on 25 November 1677 and died in The Hague in September 1748. He was a highly regarded Flemish painter known mainly for his flower paintings. After training in his hometown, he moved to the Dutch Republic where he worked in The Hague. Here he became a painter specializing in flower decoration for walls and ceilings.
In 1700 he joined the Confrérie Pictura, a society of artists who considered themselves rather academic, founded in 1656 in The Hague. His skill earned him many commissions, including the creation of numerous flower paintings for the country house of the Prussian king in the Dutch Republic. These works were so appreciated by the sovereign that they were later transferred to his palace in Prussia. Furthermore, Pieter was also commissioned to create works commissioned by ecclesiastical clients.
He died in The Hague and the date of his death was recorded as September 1748.
