Ali Hassoun is a Sufi artist and in every painting he sings his love for God with a drum roll. He paints timeless stories, in continuous dialogue between background and foreground, between Italian Renaissance art and the contemporary present. Even his characters, who have the amber faces of Middle Eastern people, the turbans of Afghan scholars and the intelligent elegance of those who are in no hurry and know how to listen, live a relationship - always learned - between background and foreground. For the Lebanese artist, the relationship between the colorful and material life which on the one hand unfolds before the spectator, and the ethereal and monochrome scenario which on the other gives the story a sacred dimension (they symbolize, as in a mirror, the mystical encounter between man and his celestial alter ego).
