Bernardo Hay, born in Florence in 1864 and passed away in Capri in 1931, was an Italian painter. Both parents were painters and it was from them that the young Bernardo learned the basics of painting. His artistic career began at the 12th edition of the Salvator Rosa Fine Arts Promotion Society Exhibition in Naples, where he exhibited his paintings "My first study" and "Study from life". Bernardo Hay specialized particularly in landscapes, following the Neapolitan style of landscape painting of the time and painting canvases with a very rich and colorful palette, capable of capturing even the most subtle and diverse shades of light. He loved to paint views in broad daylight. After a long period spent in Venice, where he painted many views of the canals and the lagoon, in 1891 he decided to settle in Capri, painting the typical tourist locations of the island. Bernardo Hay died in Capri in 1931.
