Josef Haier was an Austrian painter, designer and photographer, born in 1816 in Vienna and died in 1891 in Brno. After studying at the Vienna Academy of Art, he moved to Munich and, around 1850, settled in Brno in the Czech Republic, where he opened a photography studio. Read the full biography

Josef Haier was an Austrian painter, designer and photographer, born in 1816 in Vienna and died in 1891 in Brno. After studying at the Vienna Academy of Art, he moved to Munich and, around 1850, settled in Brno in the Czech Republic, where he opened a photography studio. During his career, Haier also worked as a traveling photographer, and his pictorial works mainly show portraits and genre painting, characterized by the late Romantic style. Haier spent much of his professional life between Austria and the Czech Republic, dying in Brno in 1891.
