Henry-Joseph Castaing, born on 1 August 1860 in Pau, was a French painter who also worked as a drawing teacher. Belonging to the Belle Époque era, he distinguished himself above all for his painting of family scenes and portraits. Later, he obtained commissions for the decoration of villas belonging to wealthy English families living in Béarn.
Furthermore, Castaing dedicated himself to orientalist painting, so much so that he exhibited his works at the Salon from 1898 to 1908 and again in 1914. The painter died in his hometown, Pau, on 21 January 1918.
