Spencer Hodge Biography

Spencer Hodge studied fine art at Hastings School of Art and the Royal West of England Academy. After completing his studies, he spent six years illustrating preparatory books and manuals on behalf of the Medical Research Council. The drawing of the human anatomy and dissections inherent in this activity allowed him to perfectly assimilate the mechanics and structure of the forms. After leaving England, Spencer Hodge began traveling on behalf of international nature conservation organizations such as the World Wide Fund for Nature. He thus traveled to countries such as India, East Africa (the game-rich areas of Kenya and Tanzania) and the United Arab Emirates. Many of these long journeys ended with exhibitions aimed at raising funds for projects for the conservation of threatened species, for example that for the Bahamas National Trust, desired and inaugurated by HRH the Duke of Edinburgh, in favor of the very rare Bahamas Parrot, or the fundraising evening, organized by Spencer in the Principality of Monaco in favor of the Ranthambhore Foundation, for the protection of the Bengal Tiger. It was a very successful event.
