Eikoh Hosoe (Yonezawa, March 18, 1933) is a Japanese photographer and director. He is known for his images in which he explores topics such as death, erotic obsession and irrationality, using the body to capture its secrets and deep emotions. He collaborated with the writer Yukio Mishima and with artists such as the dancer Tatsumi Hijikata, known for having created the Butoh dance. He also established a deep bond of friendship with both of them.
