Francesco Iacono Biography

Francesco Iacono is an artist born in Vittoria in 1956. He showed interest in art from a young age and during his artistic training he began to paint with his fingers, depriving himself of the aid of brushes. Over time, he developed his passion for artistic creation not only through painting, but also with sculpture. His first solo exhibition was held in 1980 at the Palazzo della Provincia in Ragusa and since then he has participated in numerous group exhibitions and contemporary art fairs.
His artistic successes include the silver medal in 1994 for participation in the second Sanremo International Festival of Contemporary Painting, the gold medal in 1996 at the fourth edition and the Honorary Citizenship received in 1999 in Little Rock in the United States. In 2004 he obtained a degree in painting at the Mediterranean Academy of Fine Arts in Ragusa and in 2007 he received the prize for the sculpture section at the Malta Biennale.
His works have evolved over time, moving from depictions of suicide bombers and worlds in crisis to works focused on light, space and the sky, particularly horizons and the evolution of flocks of birds in flight. His most recent works have addressed socio-political and historical themes, all immersed in a vibrant absolute stillness that captures the visitor's attention.
