Starting from 1875, using the pseudonym Iwill, he began to express his art at the Salon des artistes français, and subsequently also participated in the Salon of the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts, of which he was one of the founders. His artistic production ranged across numerous contexts, participating in orientalist, watercolorist and pastelist exhibitions both in France and abroad. Iwill was a great traveller, he painted the landscapes of Brittany, Normandy, Holland, Italy and New Zealand, his paintings could convey tranquility or melancholy but always expressed a sense of desolation.
