Mokhtar Jelassi Biography

Mokhtar Jelassi (1964 - ) was born in Tunis in 1964, the son of an embassy attaché. For his father's work reasons he moved to various European countries where he attended international schools and learned various languages. It was precisely in 1984 that he arrived in Milan and entered the artistic environment by frequenting Brera and the Bar Jamaica. In recent years he has made various appearances in the field with personal and collective exhibitions and landed in various auction houses including the Mecenate Auction House and the Poleschi Auction House. In 2017 his exhibition in Milan in the Ex Studio of Piero Manzoni in Via Fiori Chiari in the historic Brera district, he returns again with two solo shows in 2018 and 2019. In 2018 he was invited by the Historian of Modern and Contemporary Art Prof. Carlo Franza to hold his solo exhibition entitled "Modern and Postmodern" in the "Scenari" Project at Plus Florence in Florence. Again in 2018 he won the Premium International Florence Seven Stars (Europe Award) for painting, awarded to him on the Belvedere del Plus Florence in Florence. In June 2019, Carlo Franza invited him again to hold a solo exhibition entitled "Modern and Postmodern" in the "Strade d'Europa" project at Plus Berlin in Berlin. Again in 2021 he won the Premium International Florence Seven Stars (Europe Award) as Ambassador of Art, awarded to him on the Belvedere of Plus Florence in Florence. In 2022, a personal exhibition entitled “Preciousness of the symbol” at the ATM Foundation in Milan in the “New Atlas of the Arts” project curated by Prof. Carlo Franza. His works can be found in private and public collections in Italy and abroad.
