Karl Jutz was a landscape painter with animals, born in 1838. He attended the Art Academy in Munich and then that of Düsseldorf, where he followed the lessons of Gustav Süs, who had a great influence on his artistic development. In Düsseldorf, Jutz was one of the few painters specializing in animals, particularly poultry. He even built chicken coops in his garden to study them for a long time. Influenced by popular genre paintings, he also produced images satirizing contemporary society. His technique of loose, fluid brushstrokes, combined with eye-catching coloring, has made Jutz's works very popular among collectors. Jutz died in 1916.
