Petras Kalpokas was born in 1880 on the Miškinė farm, Rokiškis County, and was one of the most important and productive Lithuanian painters, scenographers and fresco authors of the first half of the 20th century. His artistic abilities were noticed by Latvian artists Jānis Walteris and Vilhemas Purvītis. The artistic environment of Munich matured Kalpokas' painterly talent, allowing him to acquire a distinctive and modern artistic expression. During his career he received recognition and, moreover, he became a member of the Secession and exhibited his works at the Kunstverein exhibitions. Petras Kalpokas died in 1945 in Kaunas.
