Angelica Kauffmann was born on 30 October 1741 in Chur. Kauffmann's artistic training took place under the guidance of her father, a modest painter, in the Lombard-Venetian artistic context. The father introduced his daughter to the practice of painting and the study of the great masters through copying plaster models and prints. In 1754, the family moved to Milan, where Angelica continued her education and met illustrious people. Probably thanks to one of her letters of introduction, Angelica was able to visit the main Italian collections in Parma, Modena and Bologna, where she studied the works of the greatest masters of the time. In June 1766, he arrived in London, where he obtained numerous portrait commissions from the court of George III. After a period of illness interspersed with short trips to rest, Angelica Kauffmann died in Rome on 5 November 1807.
