Aksel Kjersgaard Biography
Aksel Kjersgaard (1921-1997) was a well-known Danish furniture designer and manufacturer, famous for his minimalist designs made of solid wood. In the mid-1950s, he founded his eponymous company, Aksel Kjersgaard A/S, through which he developed a wide range of furniture, including cabinets, desks, chairs and tables. His designs were characterized by their simplicity, functionality and attention to detail. Working primarily with solid wood, often using teak, oak or beech, his pieces were renowned for their superior quality and durability. One of his most famous creations is the "Model 314" wall-mounted desk, designed in the 1950s. This desk represents a classic example of Danish modern design, with clean lines, essential shapes and the use of high quality materials. Thanks to its compact size and practical design, this desk has been much loved and continues to be sought after by collectors around the world.
