Nina Kogan (1887-1942) was a Russian painter known for her Suprematist works.
He was born around 1887 in Vitebsk and studied at St. Catherine's School in St. Petersburg from 1911 to 1913. In 1919 he helped organize the Petrograd City Museum. He then studied at the Vitebsk School of Folk Art, Belarus, becoming a teacher there together with Marc Chagall, El Lissitzky and Kazimir Malevich.
Kogan became a member of Malevich's UNOVIS art collective. While a member of the group, he created the work “Balletto Suprematista" trying to animate Suprematist forms and ideas in dance. He also participated in the design of the new version of the futurist work “Vittoria sul Sole".
Kogan participated in several exhibitions of the 1920s, including "First Exhibition of Russian Art" in Berlin in 1922, "Exhibition of Works of Women Artists" in Leningrad in 1936, the "Sixth Exhibition of Works of Leningrad Artists" in Leningrad in 1940 and the "Seventh exhibition of works of Leningrad artists" in Leningrad in 1941.
In 1922 Kogan married the artist Anatoly Borisov and worked as a consultant in one of the Moscow museums between 1922 and 1923. From 1928 she worked as an illustrator of children's books.
Kogan died in 1942 during the Siege of Leningrad.
