Marc Lacroix Biography

Marc Lacroix was born in Paris in 1927, he was a photographer with the incredible ability to create a story starting from a photographic portrait. He began photography while serving in the French army and, returning to France in 1965, became known for his work with artists and musicians such as Claude Luter, Sidney Bechet, Louis Armstrong and Duke Ellington. Later, he was asked to work as a photographer for major European museums, where he became interested in precise lighting. His friendship with Salvador Dali allowed him to see the daily life of the surrealist master with his wife and muse Gala. In 1971, the two artists collaborated for a special Christmas edition of Vogue Magazine and the following year they worked together to create a new technique called stereoscopic painting, or three-dimensional painting. When the Dali museum opened in Spain in 1974, a large room was set aside to house all of Lacroix's photographs. Even today, the photographer's works can be admired at the museum.
