Gerd Lange Biography
Gerd Lange, born in 1931, attended the University of Art and Design in Offenbach and founded his own design studio in Kapsweyer, Rhineland-Palatinate, in 1961. During his creative career, as a furniture developer and product designer, he has brought to life a wide range of objects used every day. His chairs, in particular, have achieved great success. We can therefore say that Gerd Lange had an important influence on the history of design in the Federal Republic of Germany in the 1970s and 1980s. His designs for prestigious brands such as Drabert, Thonet, DeSede and Wogg, to name a few, have received numerous awards.
In 1965, Gerd Lange designed a series of folding furniture for the Stuttgart company Bofinger, called "Farmer", consisting of a chair, a table, a bed and a wardrobe.
