Albert Lebourg was a famous French painter, born on 1 February 1849 in Montfort-sur-Risle and died on 6 January 1928 in Rouen. He was an impressionist and post-impressionist landscape painter of the Rouen school. He made more than 2,000 landscape paintings during his lifetime. Lebourg studied art with Gustave Morin at the Academy of Painting and Drawing in Rouen and participated in his first exhibition in 1876, displaying his works alongside Claude Monet, Alfred Sisley, Pierre-Auguste Renoir and other artists on the Boulevard Montmartre. Over the course of his career Lebourg received numerous appointments, including the appointment of professor of drawing at the Société des Beaux-Arts in Algiers, the title of Knight of the Legion of Honor in 1903 and the Officer of the Legion of Honor in 1924. Albert Lebourg died in Rouen on 7 January 1928.
