Francis Legatt Chantrey was an English sculptor specializing in portraits, born on 7 April 1781 in Jordanthorpe. Over the course of his career, he was able to portray four English monarchs: George III, George IV, William IV and Queen Victoria. However, his art was not only limited to portraits, but also sculptures. From the beginning of the 19th century, he began to specialize in the creation of busts of military heroes and prominent figures, achieving considerable success. In 1818, he was elected to the Royal Academy, becoming a knight in 1835 thanks to the appointment of William IV. He died on 25 November 1841 in London.
