Maurice Legendre (1928 - ) was born in 1928 and is known for his cityscapes and scenes of major landmarks in London, Paris and the French Riviera. Legendre was a student of Robert Couturier and in 1954 won the prestigious Blumenthal prize for art and, after studying with the sculptor Marcel Grimond, received the Brantome prize for sculpture in 1965. Sculptures such as his 'Sacre', made in Pate-de-Verre method of glass fusing, are representative of his work. Legendre's paintings of city scenes and landmarks, such as Notre Dame and the Eiffel Tower, are sought-after examples of his work. His use of silver gray in his Parisian winter scenes, the vibrant colors in pieces such as "La Madeline Flower Market" in Paris, and his work in sculpture reflect the diversity of the artwork he produced.
