Jules Leleu, born June 17, 1883 in Boulogne-sur-Mer, was a French designer. He graduated from a school of applied art and began his career in his father's painting studio. Subsequently, he dedicated himself completely to interior decoration and furniture production together with his brother Marcel, in the family business. In 1924, he opened a Parisian gallery, called "Maison Leleu", and participated in the 1925 Exposition Industrielle et Arts Decoratifs, where he won a first prize. His fame grew thanks to the success of the furniture he designed for the French ambassador's reception room at the Decorative Arts Exhibition. Since that time, Leleu has received numerous prestigious interior design commissions, including the design for large ships such as the "Ile de France" in 1931 and the "Normandie" in 1935. After his death in 1961, his son Andre ' took his place at the helm of Maison Leleu.
