David Linch Biography
David Lynch was born in Missoula, Montana, in 1946. He studied painting before embarking on a film career. He began making experimental short films and in 1977 presented his first feature film, Eraserhead, which revealed his visionary talent in the representation of hallucinated situations and deformed characters. He subsequently directed other films, including The Elephant Man (1980), Dune (1984), Blue Velvet (1986), Wild at Heart (1990), Lost Highway (1996), The Straight Story (1999) and Mulholland Drive (2001), which won him the director award at the Cannes Film Festival. He also made some television series, On the Air (1992) and Hotel Room (1993). In 2011 he released his first musical album, Crazy Clown Time, followed by The Big Dream in 2013. In 2017 he directed the sequel to Twin Peaks and the following year he received the Oscar for lifetime achievement. In 2006 his last film, Inland Empire, was released and in the same year he was awarded the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement at the Venice International Film Festival.
