Piero Lissoni Biography
Piero Lissoni was born in 1956 in Seregno, in the province of Milan. He is an architect and designer with an international activity in the fields of design, architecture and graphics. He obtained a degree in Architecture from the Polytechnic of Milan in 1985, and the following year he founded the design studio Lissoni Associati together with Elisabetta Canesi. In addition to his passion for design, Lissoni is also fascinated by graphics and art.
Over the years, Lissoni has founded various entrepreneurial realities that have complemented the main activity of his studio. In 1996 he founded the Graphx agency, specializing in visual communication and brand identity. In 2013 he then founded the Lissoni Architettura studio, while in 2015 he created the subsidiary Lissoni Inc. based in New York.
Piero Lissoni's activity extends to a vast range of projects, ranging from interior design to corporate identity, from museum installations to showrooms, from industrial design to architectural complexes. His sartorial approach, with attention to the smallest details, combined with simplicity and elegance, allows the creation of projects with a strong stylistic identity, despite the breadth of the fields of intervention.
In the industrial design sector, Studio Lissoni collaborates with important national and international brands, including Alessi, Alpi, Boffi, B&B, Bonacina, Cappellini, Cassina, De Padova, Flos, Kartell, Living Divani, just to name a few. Among the iconic products of its portfolio, we can mention the SuperSoft armchair, the Serie 3088 armchair and the Uni series of storage furniture for Cappellini, the Boffi kitchens, the Flat furniture by Cassina, or the Ile Side Table series of coffee tables and the sofa Extrasoft for Living Divani.
Piero Lissoni has received numerous awards and recognitions throughout his career, including the ADI Compasso d'Oro for the L16 door by Lualdi, the Red Dot Award for the Piuma chair by Kartell and for the Gina Recamier Right chaise longue by Janus et Cie, as well as the Good Design Award. In 2003, the Table System designed for Boffi won the Best Kitchen Award from Elle Décor International, while in 2005 Lissoni was inducted into the Hall of Fame of Interior Design in New York.
