Andrea Locatelli (Rome, 19 December 1695 – Rome, 19 February 1741) was an Italian painter. At the service of many Roman noble families, Andrea Locatelli experienced the cultural transformations of Rome between the end of the seventeenth century and the beginning of the eighteenth century. In the early years he dedicated himself to allegorical painting with landscapes (his grassy ruins were famous, which were scenes with architecture and figures). With the advance of eighteenth-century culture, Locatelli embraced the Arcadian pastoral genre, which in part derived from a development of the Bamboccianti School which had characterized genre painting in Rome in the first half of the seventeenth century.
