Richard Paul Lohse (Zurich, 13 September 1902 – Zurich, 16 September 1988) was a Swiss painter and graphic designer. As a painter he was one of the founders of the Swiss concretist group Allianz and later of the Konkrete kunst movement. Starting from post-cubist experiences close to Mondrian and Vantongerloo, over time he developed a style characterized by compositions referring to orthogonal grids and based on simple geometric modules and gradual combinations of colours. As a graphic designer he was one of the main exponents of the Swiss School. He contributed together with Max Bill and Herber Bayer to the introduction of the grid in graphic composition. He also carried out scientific research on graphic structure and color, obtaining scientific values ​​from them.
