(Treviglio, 1916).Trento Longaretti was born in Treviglio (Bergamo) in 1916. After his first studies he was in Milan, at the high school and then at the Brera Academy, from 1931 to 1939. Aldo Carpi was his teacher, while he had classmates Cassinari, Morlotti and Ibrahim Kodra studies. He began exhibiting his works in 1936 at the Littoriali della cultura e dell'arte. His artistic ways can be found in the current magazine Corrente, together with his friend Morlotti, in Guttuso, Sassu, Vedova. The Second World War interrupted his activity as an artist: he was in Slovenia and Albania. In 1942 he participated in the Venice Biennale. The following year he exhibited in Bergamo. With the end of the war he was able to fully resume his work: in addition to painting and graphics he also dedicated himself to frescoes, stained glass and mosaic art. The years 1948, 1950 and 1956 saw him again at the Venice Biennale. In 1952 he was invited to the National Quadrennial in Rome. In 1953 he won the competition for the chair of painting at the Accademia Carrara in Bergamo, succeeding Achille Funi. He directed the Academy until 1978. He exhibited not only in Italy, but also abroad (London, New York, Paris, Buenos Aires, Toronto, Ottawa, Amsterdam, Munich, Stockholm). Artist member of the Permanente of Milan, he resides and works in Bergamo and Framura, in the province of La Spezia.
