Francesco Longo Mancini was an Italian painter born in Catania on December 5, 1880, and died in Rome in 1954. After studying at the Regio Istituto Tecnico in Catania, he moved to Rome where he attended the Scuola Libera del Nudo, becoming a pupil of Francesco Jacovacci and Filippo Prosperi.
He participated in the Promotrice di Roma in 1898 and became known for his paintings of nudes. His most famous work, "The Prayer of Mohammed", was purchased by King Umberto of Savoy in 1907. Longo Mancini never showed interest in avant-garde experiences, and his work is mainly found in private collections.
