Willi Lorenz (1901 - 1981) was a German animal painter who specialized in paintings of animals typically hunted as game. His highly detailed oil paintings evoke the texture and movement of wild boar, fox, bison and elk set in their natural habitats. Often painted in harmonized brown and gold, Lorenz's work is reminiscent of the works of Max Josef Hänger Sr. Born in Germany in 1901, Lorenz studied at the Düsseldorf Art Academy before moving to Cologne to establish his career. The artist died in 1981 in Cologne, Germany.
