Sandro Lorenzini Biography

Sandro Lorenzini (1948 - ) is a ceramic artist who was born in 1948. He chose the art of ceramics as his own means of expression, seeking from the beginning the large dimension and the direct relationship between the works and the spaces that host them. The large site-specific installations constituted his most peculiar expressive dimension. Graduated in scenography at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts, he first worked at La Scala and at the Piccolo Teatro in Milan until 1973. Around the mid-seventies he began to frequent the artistic environment of Albisola and approached ceramics and in 1981 he obtained the second place in the ceramic prize dedicated to Bianco d'Albisola organized by the Municipality of Albissola Marina and the Azienda Autonoma di Soggiorno. In 1984 Sandro Lorenzini was in the United States where he participated in some workshops dedicated to sculpture. Around the mid-eighties he opened a collaboration with the Albisola ceramic factory "Fabbrica Casa Museo G. Mazzotti 1903" owned by Bepi and Tullio Mazzotti. In 1988 he was in California, at the School of Sculpture of the Art Department of the Californian State University, as a teacher and researcher. In July of the same year, Sandro Lorenzini organized some workshops at the "Fabbrica Casa Museo G. Mazzotti 1903" and at the Ceramics School of Albisola Superiore for the prestigious American university. At the end of the 1980s he opened his own laboratory in Albisola. At the beginning of the 2000s he held an important sculpture solo exhibition at the Royal Palace of Caserta.
