Leonardo Lucchi Biography

LEONARDO LUCCHI was born on 9 December 1952 in Cesena, where he still lives and works today. ùHe studied at the Institute of Art for Ceramics in Faenza and graduated in 1970. At the beginning of his artistic career he participated in various collective exhibitions in which he immediately achieved his first successes and set up his first personal exhibitions. He was invited to create a large Risen Christ and an imposing Via Crucis in the Catholic Church of Singapore, while in his city we see him as a protagonist in the creation of important bronze groups such as the monuments to Don Carlo Baronio, to San Pio da Pietrelcina, to Mother Teresa of Calcutta and the Saint John the Baptist at the Cathedral Church. In the last period he created various monumental public works, among which we remember the sculptural groups dedicated to the fallen of the Second World War, located in Terni and Forlì, the fountains for the "Piazza della Vita” in Bolgare (BG), the staircase with the bronze group “The Equilibrists”, the monuments “The Beauty of Cesena” and “The Mare and the Little Boy” which recalls Pascoli's famous poem The Mare Storna as well as the large fountain “ Water: source of beauty”, located at the entrance to the thermal area of Bagno di Romagna.
