Giuseppe Lucietti Biography
Giuseppe Lucietti was born in Nove, in the province of Vicenza in 1936 where he learned ceramic art from his family. He studied at the Art Institute of Nove, a pupil of Andrea Parini, and attended the Art Academy of Venice. Already from the mid-1950s he participated in the most important national and international artistic ceramic exhibitions, refining, through continuous research and experimentation, a great technical and expressive ability that led him to create works of pure abstraction, shaped by hand and composed on slabs using high temperature clays cooked in a gas oven at 1350° and embellished by the skilful use of metal oxides. In 1954 he took part in the Faenza International Ceramics Competition, obtaining third place in the student section. He collaborates with numerous manufacturers including "Compostella", "Zen", "Brenta" and as a designer, with "Porcellane San Marco". In the 1950s he stayed several times in Faenza where he collaborated with Nanni Valentini in Carlo Zauli's laboratory. In 1956 he held his first solo show of drawings and paintings at the Pick Bar in Bassano and in the same year he participated in the Venice Biennale. In the 1960s he began to use refractory earth for his creations, creating the conditions for subsequent porcelain creations. In 1962 he was again at the Venice Biennale, an experience he would repeat again in the following edition and in the same year he was invited to hold the chair of professional design and ceramic decoration at the G. De Fabris Art Institute in Nove. In 1964 he obtained a scholarship that took him to London. In 1966 he was invited by Giò Ponti to exhibit his works at Eurodomos, in 1968 he was present at the Milan Triennale and in 1972 he participated in the International Ceramics Symposium of Nove. In 1974 he combined the processing of ceramics with that of porcelain by collaborating with the "Porcellane San Marco" factory. In these same years his son Simone began to collaborate with him. In 1984 he won first prize at the International Ceramics Competition in Faenza and in the same city, the following year, he presented the Detriti exhibition at the Palazzo delle Esposizioni. Starting from the mid-eighties he carried out some works in the laboratories of the Albisola factory "Fabbrica Casa Museo G. Mazzotti 1903". In 1986 he took part in the exhibition "Carte fossilised" at the First Porcelain Triennial in Switzerland. Winner of the 3rd National Art Ceramics Competition in Savona in 1988, in the same year he was the protagonist of the personal Sabbie, Sassi and Dune organized by the Municipality. of Nove in the rooms of the Municipal Palace. Giuseppe Lucietti is active, together with his brother Antonio Angelo, in the studio in via Rivarotta 16 in Bassano in the province of Vicenza.
