Mario Lupo Biography
Mario Lupo (1926 - 1992), born in Giulianova in 1926, spent many years in Ancona where he trained artistically. From 1954 he began to hold exhibitions and solo shows in the main Italian cities, also exhibiting in New York, Stockholm, Paris, Saint'Etienne, Geneva, Zurich, Amsterdam, Nuremberg, Toronto. From 1966 he worked in Grottammare, and his first anthology took place in this city in 1978 with the publication of the monographic volume "Qualche mille di tela olona" edited by Giovanni Maria Farroni. In 1977 he received the "Ginestra d'Oro del Conero" award for his artistic merits. Under the guidance of Maestro Egidio Costantini, founder of the “Fucina degli Angeli” in Venice, he created glass sculptures in 1983, subsequently exhibited in Barcelona, Valencia, Pordenone and Parma. In the same year he held an anthological exhibition at the Museum of Science and Technology in Milan. In December 1984, together with Pericle Fazzini, he published the graphic portfolio entitled “La Speranza”, presented by Dino Calabresi, and the following year the portfolio “Il trittico del mare”, presented by Francesco Lista, with a poem by Filippo Decoroso. The city of Osimo hosted a major exhibition of his at the San Silvestro Cultural Center in 1987. Mario Lupo died in Grottammare in 1992. Some of his solo exhibitions: “Homage to Verga” (Catania, 1972); “The salty waits” (Bergamo, 1974), “The expected flights and magical transparencies” (Bergamo, 1985), “Stories of Daunia” (Foggia, 1975), “Stories of bitter water” (Geneva, 1980), “The olive trees of Torre Mileto” (Milan – Rome - Torre Ischitella sul Gargano, 1981).
