Domenico Lusetti Biography
Domenico Lusetti was born in Brescia in 1908. After finishing primary school he began working in the quarries of Mazzano and Botticino. Later, he studied at the Brera Academy in Milan, under the guidance of the sculptors Timo Bortolotti and Leone Lodi. Initially Lusetti focused on studying the classics, but subsequently expressed his creativity in freer and more modern forms. In 1936, he exhibited his first exhibition in Milan. In 1937, his sculpture "The Granddaughter" was purchased by the Pinacoteca Tosio Martinengo, and in the same year he decided to open his studio in via Bassiche. In 1947 he moved the studio to via Ferramola, which later became a permanent exhibition place for his works. In 1938, he participated in the IX trade union exhibition in Milan, the exhibition of the Villa Reale in Milan and sold a work entitled "Giovannino" to the Gallery of Modern Art in Milan. In 1938 he also exhibited his wooden work "Il Velocista" in Sanremo, which was then also exhibited in Rome, Berlin (in 1939), Madrid (in 1940) and finally at the Provincial Dopolavoro of Brescia in 1941. At that time, Domenico Lusetti had already created many sculptures. His activity was then interrupted by the call to arms and the long imprisonment in German concentration camps from September 1943 to May 1945. Having returned from the conflict, after a period of reflection and reflection, he resumed his artistic activity, participating in numerous exhibitions in Milan, Suzzara, London, Trieste, Parma, Turin, Padua, Florence, Pescara, Verona, Rome, Zurich, Iglesias, Ancona and Bologna, among other cities. He also exhibited personal exhibitions in Brescia (in 1948, 1951, 1953, 1959, 1963 and 1968), in Gavardo (in 1956), in Salò (in 1964) and in Milan (in 1966). Domenico Lusetti, an established artist, died in Brescia in 1979.
