Lazzaro Luxardo, born in Voltri in 1865, was an Italian painter belonging to the divisionism movement. He studied at the Accademia Ligustica in Genoa with the famous painter-engraver, Raffaele Granara, later perfecting himself in Florence, Rome and Venice. Luxardo began by painting historical works and then moved on to portraits and landscapes, also using the pointillist technique. He has exhibited his works in numerous Genoese Promoters, at the Ligurian Bozzetto Exhibition and in other art events. He proved to be a skilled fresco and watercolourist. He mainly painted seascapes: his Liguria, the cliffs and the brightness of the sky were represented with great evocative power. Luxardo died in Voltri in 1949.
