Juarez Machado Biography
Juarez Machado (1941 - ) was born in the city of Joinville, in the state of Santa Catarina, Brazil. He studied at the School of Art in the state of Paranâ, in the city of Curitiba but in 1966 he settled in Rio de Janeiro, intensifying his activity. In addition to painting, he also enjoys illustration, scenography, sculpture, drawing and engraving. Through his humorous drawings he is known nationally. In addition to drawing and painting, he was a mime, set designer, graphic designer, illustrator and sculptor. Instead, as a cartoonist he conquered the Brazilian press, and then had the program Fantástico, broadcast by TV Globo. At the end of the 70s he dedicated himself solely to painting. He was thus known beyond the borders of his homeland, in fact in 1978 he went to New York, London and finally to Paris, where, in 1986, he opened his own studio. In the meantime he received numerous awards, both in Brazil and abroad. He exhibits frequently in the United States and Europe.
