Francesco Maiolo Biography
Francesco Maiolo was born in Nardo Pace (VV) on 22 December 1940 where he lived until 1957. Self-taught, he began painting at a very young age while his work took him first to Rome and then to Turin where he moved in 1963. He began his exhibition activity in 1966 with the first exhibition at the Robert Philip gallery in Paris and subsequently at the Viotti gallery in Turin but he dedicated himself professionally to painting since 1973. In 1974 he was chosen by Publinter of Milan to create the Colomba Motta advertisement. In 1976 he collaborated with the publisher Salani of Florence for the illustration of "The Gospels", and was invited to Yugoslavia to create a work for the Slatar Museum. In 1979 he was invited again to Yugoslavia at the Trebnje Museum. His works are chosen to illustrate the stories of G. Rodari and C. Alvaro, of Fabbri Editori, for elementary schools. The same publisher dedicated the first page of the volume "History of Italians" to him. Numerous solo exhibitions in Italy and abroad as well as participation in the main art fairs in Bologna, Florence, Padua and Geneva. Rai and private commercial television have carried out extensive reports on his painting and he is present in numerous private collections in Italy, France, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Australia, the United States, Japan and Canada. Francesco Maiolo is recognized both in Italy and abroad for a unique style in the management of color and mixtures, which has been continuously evolving for over forty years, making him one of the most appreciated contemporary artists.
