Charles J. Mairet (1878 - 1957) Painter born in 1880, he was above all a politically committed xylographer. Active in Geneva. His fields of activity are painting, woodcut, illustration, engraving. He died in 1947 in Geneva. He collaborated with the libertarian press and in particular with the Réveil anarchiste, whose masthead he redesigned in 1930. Initially influenced by Ferdinand Hodler, his painting evolved towards a more direct realism, especially after 1918, when he collaborated with anarchist circles Genevans around Luigi Bertoni. He donated 49 woodcuts to the newspaper Le Réveil anarchiste between 1918 and 1930, the year in which he redesigned the publication's layout.
